CAST OF CHARACTERS

Terri White is currently thrilling audiences in the acclaimed Broadway revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Follies. Her performance of Stella Deems has won unanimous raves. The New York Times’ Ben Brantley called White “first-rate” while Steven Suskin of Variety called her a “ferocious knockout.” The New York Post’s Elisabeth Vincentelli observed, “Terri White’s crooning of “Who’s That Woman” is like warm butterscotch trickling over ice cream.” The cast recording of “Follies,” featuring Terri White, was released November 29.

This is merely the latest success in a number of lauded roles for the unstoppable White. She is the veteran of numerous Broadway and Off-Broadway productions, reaching back to the 1970s, when White created the role of Joice Heth in the original production of Barnum.

White has been in two productions of Ain’t Misbehavin’, 1978 and 1988, as well as Welcome to the Club, The Club, (for which she won an Obie Award), Stepping Out at Radio City with Liza Minnelli and the classic Joe Papp-directed 1971 production of Two Gentlemen of Verona. Most recently, White appeared in the 2009 revival of Finian’s Rainbow as Dottie, where she stopped the show nightly with the number “Necessity.” What audiences would learn during the run of this show is that White had fallen on hard times, and had been homeless months before being cast in Finian’s Rainbow.

Other shows include Bubbling Brown Sugar, Juba, The Jungle Book, Chicago, And The World Goes ‘Round, Little Shop of Horrors” (as Audrey 2).

White can be seen on VHS and DVD in Nunsense I & II with Rue McClanahan, Liza Live at Radio City Music Hall, Boys on the Side, and Law and Order, Criminal Intent. Recordings include, Forbidden Broadway 25th Anniversary, Barnum, Liza Live, Finian’s Rainbow, Incurably Romantic, and her own CD The Lady’s Got To Sing.
